Yes, estimates are free. There is no cost to users when submitting a request for estimate.
All estimates are contingent on a physical inspection by a qualified professional and the terms outlined by each repair facility. A percent confidence rating is also provided with the estimate to help assess each quote. However, the percent confidence rating could be highly influenced by the estimator’s experience dealing with past similar estimates, the presence of any hidden damage, quality & quantity of photographs, location and extent of repairs, etc.
This will vary from shop to shop. However, each estimate is contingent on a physical inspection and should help to clarify and/or answer additional questions relating to labor rates, parts, guarantees, duration, estimate expiration and other specific details pertaining to the repair.
Member shops are able to receive and provide unlimited estimates, advertise current sales or promotions, upload estimates, and are automatically notified of all estimate requests within 5 miles of their location. Shops can register online to become members by selecting either a 6-month or 1-year membership duration. Shops may also contact us for limited-time promotions to receive discounted offers.
Yes, you can. All user-selected shops will be notified of the estimate request (by email or phone). Each shop selected will be invited to become a member, after which they will be able to review the request details and provide an estimate.
Yes, once you've received an estimate, it can be shared by email.
The vehicle information is only shared with the repair facilities providing the estimate. You are then free to share your contact information with each shop's estimator to schedule an appointment for a physical inspection.
The list of repair facilities was provided by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR), and consists of businesses with "Valid" or "Delinquent" license status. The database is updated periodically to capture recently licensed shops and to remove old records.
There are many reasons for this, but likely because: a) the BAR issues many types of auto related business licenses, so a shop license may have been coded incorrectly, b) the business may be operating without a valid license, c) the website does not have a real-time interface with the BAR’s database of registered businesses (no one does). However, all businesses can self-register online and become a member shop and update any information at their convenience.
Insurance companies are not affiliated with the website. However, we are actively seeking to integrate some of their resources into the site.
Yes, but it is recommended that you state this information in the request to help assist the estimator.
The full interactive experience (request/provide estimates) is available throughout the state of California. But special emphasis (with additional links and expanded shop information) is currently only available for shops in the expanded Bay Area region (San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Alameda, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Contra Costa, Sonoma, Napa, Solano).
At present, there are two (2) service categories available; auto body repair and auto glass repair. As our list of service categories expand, we will update this section accordingly.
At present, we are optimizing the website for San Jose, CA, but plan to expand to other Bay Area cities as we gain local traction in our backyard. In order to improve our organic ranking for consumers seeking bumper repair estimates, locating shops, or simply looking for additional information, we have created several keyword pages that may help boost our ranking for local search results.
